The Mechanics of Reading Book 1 parts A and B

The Mechanics of Reading Book 1 parts A and B has been designed to give children who are beginning to read and anyone  who has trouble reading, a chance to enjoy learning to read in an integrated way.

The book begins with the five vowel sounds and lists the other letters in order of frequency of use. It offers a lot of practice which makes things easier for First Year teachers. The book is also versatile because the teacher can use it with any other reading program or in any order he/she feels.

  •  Letter recognition and Word recognition
  •  Word building
  • Blending sounds – cv, vc, cvc
  • Sentence completion
  •  Spelling activities
  •  Rhyming words
  •  Cloze paragraphs with high frequency words
  • Picture comprehension
  • Sentence construction
  •  Deleting and substituting sounds
  •  Supplying missing words
  • Discriminating between words which differ in   their beginning and ending sounds
  •  Alphabetical order

    1. Thank you Ray. It is indeed a helpful tool for teachers because it is filled with so many reinforcement activities. Most importantly, the students learn to read. This was used as a pilot project for over one hundred children and all showed significant improvement in reading.
